The Freibott Law Firm was recently successful in prosecuting a disfigurement case on behalf of one of its clients. Our client was injured at work and underwent a meniscal repair surgery to his knee. He was required to go through several other surgeries including a skin graft where skin was taken from his left thigh to cover a hole in his knee. The Industrial Accident Board, after listening to our client testify about the effects the scars have on him, as well as his altered gait, awarded 54 weeks of compensation for the scarring and disfigurement claim. Since the award was higher than that offered by the defense attorney, the Industrial Accident Board also ordered the worker’s compensation insurance carrier to pay an attorney’s fee.
