The Freibott Law Firm was recently successful in prosecuting a case on behalf of one of our clients. Our client was injured in a work accident on May 5, 2020 while working as a phlebotomist. She sustained an injury to her low back which necessitated surgeries and leaving her with scarring. The Industrial Accident Board listened to our client’s testimony and found her credible that prior to having the surgeries and incurring the scars that she was pretty and was able to wear any type of clothing that she wished, including a bikini. Since the surgeries and the multiple scars, that has changed and she feels that she is not nearly as attractive as she once was. The Industrial Accident Board ruled that our client sustained scarring that not only affected our client physically but also affected her socially and psychologically. The Industrial Accident Board awarded 19 weeks of compensation. Since that figure was more than what was offered by the worker’s compensation insurance carrier, and their attorney, the Industrial Accident Board further ordered an attorney’s fee to be paid to our firm by the worker’s compensation insurance carrier.
