The Freibott Law Firm was recently successful in prosecuting a claim on behalf of one of our clients seeking the compensability of sacroiliac joint injections as well as sacroiliac joint fusion surgery. Our medical expert witness, Dr. Yalamanchili, a neurosurgeon, was found to be more credible than that of the employer’s expert medical witness, Dr. Kalamchi, an orthopedic surgeon. The Industrial Accident Board held that “After a thorough review of the evidence, the Claimant met his burden to show that the treatment at issue was reasonable, necessary, and causally related to the May 8, 2019 work accident.” Accordingly, the Industrial Accident Board ordered that the sacroiliac joint injection as well as the proposed sacroiliac joint fusion surgery is reasonable. The Industrial Accident Board further ordered that the worker’s compensation insurance carrier pay an attorney’s fee and reimburse our firm for our expert witness fee. (Vible v. State of Delaware, Hearing No.: 1487039 Date of Decision: December 15, 2020)
